There are two men named Zerahiah in the Bible:

  • A high priest and son of Uzzi, a descendant of Aaron, through his son Eleazar (1 Chronicles 6:6).
  • The father of a man named Eliehoenai, who led a group of 200 returnees from the Babylonian exile and traveled with Ezra (Ezra 8:4).

The name Zerahiah consists of two elements, the first being יה (Yah) = יהו (Yahu) = יו (Yu), which in turn are abbreviated forms of the Tetragrammaton יהוה, YHWH, or Yahweh.
