By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them,] and embraced [them,] and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

For they verily for a few days chastened [us] after their own pleasure; but he for [our] profit, that [we] might be partakers of his holiness.

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
κατακαυχασθε
you shout down
Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

you might be judged
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

it may be filled to capacity
Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

having re-begotten
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning [here] in fear:

Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
And account [that] the longsuffering of our Lord [is] salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace [be] to thee. [Our] friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words,] having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
μεμψιμοιροι
fault-finders in their lots
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
